Italy vs Australia

Here it comes again all the nagging about Italy ... Everybody is talking about the controversial penalty kick.
Is anybody talking about the controversial red card that Materazzi got? Of course not.

Now if you ask the Italy haters or the Aussi fans, they will tell you it was obviously a bad call. In reality it's a tough decision. Neill claimed to "fall" in the penalty box and everybody believed him, but nobody believes that Grosso tripped over him. Well, there is only two possibilities:
1) there was a big lag of time, enough for Grosso to stop. In this case Neill should have had the time to stand up again, instead of taking his sweet time laying on the ground. Or
2) there wasn't enough time and thus Grosso wasn't acting when he tripped.

So please people, either stick with one story or just bug off!

On a side note: can somebody please tell the commentator at ESPN that the US are out of the tournament? In every single game he has to mention some similar foul in one of the 3 games US played.
The US team went back home, so please get over it!
As for ABC, it's a hopeless case; I guess a mute botton would be the best thing to do.

There was enough time for grosso to jump over the guy and yes that means Neill had enough time to atleast start getting up. But then why would he want to stand up? If he tired to stand he would be more in the way of grosso and hence foul him. he's obstructing least when he is on the ground. there definitely wasnt enough time for him to completely stand up. On the other hand grosso would have to jump 1 foot off the ground to clear him. guess it was easier to run into the guy and then roll around on the floor... :-P

I agree about the commentary though. but then again this is america and the rest of the world has to be hinged around it somehow..

are you serious? did you see how quickly they get up when it's convenient for them?
Also remember: you are NOT supposed to lay down in the penalty box. Surely Grosso made it seem much more dramatic than it deserves, but if Neill is stupid enough to lay down there and let him trip over him, then tough luck ...
Add to this, Neill didn't even kick the ball. He just layed down there, and CLAIMED to fall down. Yeah right!
